Uncle Faces Serious Charges in Shocking Family Incident

A 49-year-old man has been remanded by the Nausori Magistrates Court following charges of allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece. The incidents reportedly took place on September 2 at the man’s residence. It is alleged that during a visit to return an item belonging to his daughter, he forcibly engaged in the criminal acts. The victim’s mother subsequently reported the matter to the Vunidawa Police Station. The man faces charges including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. He remains in custody, with the case set to be mentioned again on September 19 at the Suva High Court.
