A 49-year-old man has been remanded by the Nausori Magistrates Court following charges of allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece. The incident reportedly took place on September 2 at the defendant’s residence, where he allegedly forced the victim to engage in sexual acts while she was returning an item belonging to his daughter. The victim’s mother subsequently reported the incident to the Vunidawa Police Station. The man faces multiple charges, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. He remains in custody, with the case scheduled to be mentioned in the Suva High Court on September 19.
