A 49-year-old man has been remanded by the Nausori Magistrates Court on charges of allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece. The alleged incident took place on September 2 at the man’s residence, where it is reported that he forcefully assaulted the victim after she went to return an item belonging to his daughter. The victim’s mother subsequently reported the case to the Vunidawa Police Station. The accused faces two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. He will remain in custody until the case is mentioned again on September 19 at the Suva High Court.
