The Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup continues its second round of matches today, taking place at three key venues in Lautoka, Nadi, and Ba. The tournament’s first round was highly successful, offering visiting teams a fun and enriching experience alongside local district school teams.

Dhirend Chand, the Head of Academy at West, shared insights into the competition, highlighting the participation of two Australian teams in addition to various Western District development centres like Nadroga, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Lautoka, and Nadi. The competitive divisions feature boys ranging from U10 to U17 and a U16 girls’ division, along with a women’s team.

Chand emphasized the importance of this event for local youth, stating, “This is a great opportunity for game time and friendly matches with overseas teams. It also allows students to learn from each other and share cultural experiences.” Coaches are actively involved, teaching fundamental football techniques, thus creating a beneficial learning environment for the young athletes.

Today’s matchups include WHS Australia facing off against Lautoka at Central School in Lautoka at 2:30 PM. In the girls’ division, IFG Australia will take on Nadi at Nadi Sangam at the same time. Furthermore, in the boys’ U15 category, IFG Australia is set to play Nadi at 3 PM at Nadi Sangam, while they will also compete against Tavua in the U17 boys’ division at 2:30 PM in Ba.

The Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup not only enhances football skills for the participants but also fosters friendship and cultural exchange between local teams and their international counterparts, contributing positively to the community and promoting a spirit of unity through sport.
