UK’s All In Initiative to Stop Gender-Based Violence Launches with Fiji in Focus

The United Kingdom has unveiled a significant new initiative known as “All In,” designed to assist countries such as Fiji in combating gender-based violence. This effort focuses on implementing stronger policies, creating safer communities, and providing protection against online abuse.

This initiative follows a previous investment of 10 million Fijian dollars, which targets violence against women on a global scale. According to the UK Foreign Office, their efforts have already reached over 3 million individuals, with a notable impact felt throughout the Pacific region.

Kanbar Hossein-Bor, the British High Commissioner to Fiji, emphasized that a global panel established under this initiative will address real challenges faced by women, which range from ensuring safety in public spaces to dealing with harassment online.

“Two days ago, the UK Foreign Secretary announced a new initiative called ‘All In’ aimed at accelerating the progress to stop gender-based violence globally,” shared Hossein-Bor. He conveyed that this initiative could unlock access to global expertise, innovative prevention strategies, and community support programs that directly enhance the well-being of women in various settings, including villages, settlements, and urban areas.

Hossein-Bor added, “The aim is to look at how, at the global level, we can support these initiatives and think about how we can collaborate, including with countries like Fiji.” This commitment not only fosters international cooperation but also paves the way for a safer and more equitable future for women in vulnerable communities. The initiative holds promise in creating lasting change and safeguarding the rights and dignity of women worldwide.
