The second phase of the UK’s support for the leadership training of the Fiji Police Force commenced yesterday at the Nakasi Police Station’s Eastern Division training room.
This initiative, organized by the UK Government in collaboration with the College of Policing, aims to enhance the skills of officers at various levels, including junior supervisors, middle managers, and senior executives.
Mr. Josh Kemp, Head of the UK Integrated Security Fund (UKISF) Pacific Program, emphasized the importance of investing in leadership across all ranks during the opening of this three-week training session. He noted that effective leadership is essential for addressing issues throughout Fiji, highlighting the necessity of strong systems and leadership.
Mr. Kemp also remarked that empowering officers at all levels can facilitate easier delegation of decision-making responsibilities. The training at the executive level is planned for early September.
Furthermore, the UK Government has made available study opportunities in London under the International Leadership Programme for senior Fiji Police officers. Recent attendees include Divisional Police Commander South, SSP Wate Vocevoce, SSP Serupepeli Neiko, the Director of Training and Education, and SSP Salanieta Radaniva, the Director of Community Policing.
