Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School is set to compete against Ratu Kadavulevu School in the final of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Vodafone Super Deans under-14 grade. RKS secured their place in the final by defeating the defending champions, Marist Brothers High School, with a score of 13-0. MGM followed closely, delivering a strong performance in the second semi-final, overwhelming Lelean Memorial School 31-10.
The upcoming final will determine the new champion of the U14 grade. MGM team manager Miriama Lutubulo expressed that reaching this stage is particularly significant for their team, as they are the only representatives from the school remaining in the competition. She mentioned that the recent loss of the U18 team inspired the U14 players to push forward, fueling their motivation to excel.
As they look towards the finals, MGM is preparing to face the formidable RKS, recognized as the leading team from the Eastern Zone. Lutubulo noted, “We know that RKS was the top team from the Eastern Zone. We know that they will come in well prepared, and we will also prepare well for them.”
The MGM U14 team enjoyed tremendous support during their match, with families, friends, and supporters donning bright orange to cheer them on.
