The U.S. Department of Defense has unveiled its plans for significant airport and seaport enhancements on Yap Island in the Federated States of Micronesia, designed to boost military readiness and facilitate the deployment of U.S. military forces in the region. At the Yap airport, plans include an array of infrastructure improvements, such as runway extensions, facility construction to support diverse aircraft operations, and enhancements to ensure compliance with safety standards. Similarly, at Tamil Harbour, upgrades will facilitate dual-use operations, catering to both military and civilian needs.
