Two police officers have been apprehended in Suva for allegedly possessing illicit drugs, suspected to be methamphetamine. Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu confirmed the arrest and vowed that officers who breach their oath to serve and protect will be dismissed from the Fiji Police Force. This arrest was achieved through the collaborative efforts of the Fiji Police Force, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, and the Australian Federal Police. The involved substances are currently undergoing testing by the Fiji Police Forensic and Science Services.

Commissioner Tudravu emphasized that the arrested officers will undergo a thorough investigation, facing the same judicial processes as any other citizen. This incident highlights the police force’s persistence in combating drug-related crimes and internal corruption. Tudravu reiterated the commitment of the majority of officers to restoring public trust and reaffirmed that those misusing their positions will face justice.
