Two drowning incidents were reported yesterday in the Eastern Division, highlighting the ongoing safety concerns in aquatic environments.
The first incident involved a 16-year-old student from Wailevu Village, who went missing while swimming in the Wainibuka River. Authorities were alerted and search operations were promptly launched, but as of yesterday, these efforts had not yet yielded results. The search is expected to continue today, with hopes of locating the missing youth.
In a separate case, the body of a 25-year-old man from Nasirotu Village was discovered in the Waidina River yesterday afternoon. Vunidawa Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, and a post-mortem examination will be performed to ascertain the cause of death.
