“Two Men Face Court for Deceptive Financial Schemes in Fiji”

Two men are set to appear in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today after being charged by the Fiji Police Mpaisa Task Force for separate incidents involving obtaining financial advantage by deception.

The first case involves a 36-year-old man from Wailea, Vatuwaqa, who is accused of deceiving a victim on May 21, 2023. He allegedly obtained $447 by claiming he had sent her an incorrect One Time Pin (OTP) and asked her to send the details back to him. After receiving the OTP, he purportedly transferred the amount and withdrew it for his personal use.

In a second case, another 36-year-old man from Koronivia is alleged to have dishonestly received $190 from a victim on November 17, 2023. The investigation found that the victim responded to a Facebook post regarding a car for hire and sent the deposit to the advertised number. The accused is said to have misused the funds without providing the promised service.

Both individuals are scheduled to face the court today.
