The Fiji Police Force is set to present two men in court on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in connection with the alleged murder of Police Constable 8012 Peniasi Racagi.
Following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the two accused, aged 42 and 20 and both residents of Qauia in Lami, have been formally charged with murder. The police allege that these two men, along with an unidentified individual, contributed to the injuries that ultimately led to the death of Constable Racagi between February 21 and 22, 2026.
Currently, the accused individuals remain in custody and are expected to appear at the Suva Magistrates Court as scheduled. Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed these developments, emphasizing the commitment of the Fiji Police Force to pursue justice in this matter.
This case not only brings to light the ongoing issues surrounding the safety of law enforcement officers in Fiji but also reflects the community’s concern for the support and protection of those who serve and protect. The legal proceedings will be closely monitored as the situation unfolds.
