Turmoil in the People’s Alliance: Ministers Eye New Political Horizons

The People’s Alliance party is currently experiencing internal challenges. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that some ministers within the PA Cabinet are considering leaving the party to establish their own political group ahead of the 2026 General Election.

Rabuka stated he was unsure of the identities of these dissenting ministers but mentioned that he had been alerted to the situation. He expressed, “They are free (to do it). They may be disenchanted about how things are going. I do not know who they are.” He emphasized that those contemplating departure should approach him directly, indicating that they can either take a leadership role in the current party or proceed to form a new one later, while affirming that the party remains united for now.

He reiterated his lack of knowledge regarding which Cabinet members are considering leaving the party, stating, “No. I have been told and they are free to do that.”

Current PA Ministers include Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, Lynda Tabuya, Sakiasi Ditoka, Siromi Turaga, Filimoni Vosarogo, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, Jese Saukuru, Alitia Bainivalu, Kalaveti Ravu, Maciu Nalumisa, Charan Jeath Singh, Vatimi Rayalu, and Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu.
