Turmoil in the People’s Alliance: Ministers Eye New Political Horizons

The ruling People’s Alliance party is experiencing internal challenges. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that several Cabinet ministers are considering leaving to create their own party for the upcoming 2026 General Election. He stated that he is uncertain about the identities of these ministers but has been informed of their intentions.

Rabuka mentioned, “They are free to do it,” suggesting that some may be dissatisfied with the current situation within the party. He emphasized that he does not know who has been contemplating this move and encouraged any ministers with such thoughts to come forward.

“A decision must be made whether to lead the party now or to establish a new party later,” he added, reaffirming that the party remains united at this moment. The current members of the PA in government include Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica and other notable figures such as Lynda Tabuya, Sakiasi Ditoka, and Siromi Turaga, among others.
