Turaga of Tui Namosi Seeks Answers on Development Company – What’s Happening?

The Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, has issued an apology to the people of his province due to the lack of clear communication regarding the provincial company’s affairs.

Established in 1994, the Namosi Development Company Ltd (NDCL) has been operating for 30 years. Initially, the company was intended to belong to the province, but this was not the case as only a few individuals hold shares in the company.

This issue was raised at the Namosi Provincial Council meeting held at the Pearl Resort, Pacific Harbour, on Thursday. Maciu Katamotu, the Minister for Housing and a member of the council, inquired about the company’s operations on behalf of concerned citizens.

Katamotu emphasized the importance of the company’s continued success and profitability, expressing the desire for the company to be restructured to ensure its ownership by the province and providing transparency to the people.

Ratu Suliano highlighted his two-decade-long efforts to establish a committee or think tank to oversee the company’s operations. This committee was successfully formed last week and will now manage the company’s affairs.

During his two-year incarceration in Naboro Correctional Facility, he made plans regarding the provincial company. He noted that out of the four current shareholders, three have passed away, leaving him as the sole surviving shareholder.

A meeting will soon be called to involve an auditor who will present the company’s financial plans to the people.
