Tomasi Tuivuna emerged victorious in the professional category at the Naviti Open Pro-Am, a tournament co-hosted by Golf Fiji and the Fiji PGA, which took place at the Naviti Resort course last Saturday. The event attracted over 42 players competing on the unique all-par 3, nine-hole golf layout, showcasing both professional skill and amateur enthusiasm.
Tuivuna secured the championship title with an impressive score of 60, earning himself a prize of $850. Following closely behind was Waisake Vati, who finished second with a score of 61 and took home $650. In the amateur division, Rohit Chandra captured the title with a score of 67, while Mohd Nawaz won the best net award with a score of 62.
The ladies’ competition was equally competitive, with Soni Matthews claiming the best gross score of 77 and Susie Yee recognized as the best net winner.
Amitesh Chandra, the president of Golf Fiji, expressed his gratitude for the strong turnout and highlighted the event’s sponsors, which included Coastal Rentals, River Tubing Navua, and Tappoo’s, among others. He noted, “It was a great day of fun, and we thank the Naviti team for its hospitality. We aim to make this an annual event, bringing together golfers from all over Fiji for a day of fun and competition.”
