The Tui Vuda, Ratu Eparama Tavaiqia, marked his 94th birthday on Wednesday at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi. The celebration was attended by traditional leaders from Vuda, members of chiefly families, and residents of Viseisei, coming together to honor his 14 years of leadership in his vanua.
Reflecting on his milestone, Tui Vuda expressed gratitude for reaching this age. “I thank God for giving me life that I can be here and celebrate my birthday with you today. I am grateful for the leadership and the guidance that at this age I can still lead my vanua,” he stated. He also conveyed his appreciation for the love and support he has received.
Ratu Meli Tora, his spokesperson, noted that Tui Vuda is the only surviving elder iTaukei paramount chief. He added, “May God continue to bless his life, his leadership and his vanua.”
