Ratu Eparama Tavaiqia, the Tui Vuda, marked his 94th birthday at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi on Wednesday. The celebration was attended by traditional leaders from Vuda, members of chiefly families, and residents from Viseisei. This occasion also marks 14 years of his leadership in the region.
In his remarks, Tui Vuda expressed gratitude for reaching this milestone, stating, “I thank God for giving me life that I can be here and celebrate my birthday with you today. I am grateful for the leadership and the guidance that at this age I can still lead my vanua.” He also thanked attendees for their love and support.
According to his spokesperson Ratu Meli Tora, Tui Vuda is the only living elder iTaukei paramount chief. Ratu Meli added, “May God continue to bless his life, his leadership and his vanua.”
