Tui Nadi Resigns as Peoples Alliance Party President: What’s Next?

Ratu Vuniyani Navuniuci, the Tui Nadi, has stepped down as the president of the People’s Alliance party. He announced his resignation during a meeting of the party’s executive council last week.

At 70 years old, Ratu Vuniyani cited two main reasons for his decision. First, he expressed satisfaction in accomplishing his goal of helping to overthrow the FijiFirst party, which he views as a significant achievement in his leadership role. Second, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health and personal life. He mentioned that balancing the pressures of both his presidential duties and his chief role in Nadi was becoming too much, and he has chosen to focus solely on his role as Tui Nadi.

Ratu Vuniyani reassured that any rumors about disagreements with party procedures were unfounded and considered them to be misinformation. He extended his gratitude to the party, its members, and his supporters. Currently, vice-president Ratu Josefa Dimuri is serving as the acting president.
