Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad has urged Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry to be honest and present evidence regarding his alleged charges by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for submitting false statutory declarations to the Registrar of Political Parties.
“Look into the situation and find out from him what is the truth,” Professor Prasad stated when asked for his reaction to Mr. Chaudhry’s assertions. He emphasized the need for Mr. Chaudhry to substantiate his claims with credible sources.
In response, Mr. Chaudhry asserted that a Board of Inquiry will uncover all the necessary details. Previously, Professor Prasad mentioned to The Fiji Times that his legal team had already engaged with FICAC and dismissed any grounds for charges.
Efforts to obtain remarks from FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali have been unsuccessful.
