Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, has urged Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry to present the truth regarding his charges by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for allegedly submitting false statutory declarations to the Registrar of Political Parties.
Prof. Prasad expressed his thoughts when asked about Mr. Chaudhry’s allegations, stating, “You go and find out from him what is the truth. Find out if he is telling the truth. That’s my comment, and where are his sources of information?”
In response, Mr. Chaudhry maintained that a Board of Inquiry would clarify the situation. Previously, Prof. Prasad informed the media that his legal team had contacted FICAC and dismissed any grounds for charges against him.
Efforts to obtain a response from FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali were unsuccessful.
