A trough of low pressure over the Northern Division, combined with a moist easterly wind flow, will keep much of Fiji under cloudy conditions with showers and pockets of heavy rain. Occasional heavy falls and afternoon thunderstorms are expected, particularly across Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and parts of the north, and there is a risk of localised flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Winds are generally moderate from the east and seas moderate for most areas.
The Northern Division, including Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni, can expect occasional showers with isolated heavy falls today; these showers are easing later in some locations. The Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands will see cloudy periods with some showers. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are likely across Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, and isolated heavy downpours may cause rapid rises in normally flood-prone streams and low-lying areas.
For major centres: Navua, Suva and Nausori will have cloudy periods with some showers and afternoon thunderstorms with heavy falls (min 24°C, max 32°C). Nadi, Lautoka and Ba should remain mostly fine apart from afternoon or evening showers but with thunderstorms developing later in the day (min 22–23°C, max 33°C). Sigatoka and the Coral Coast should be fine apart from afternoon or evening showers, with thunderstorms possible (min 24–25°C, max 32°C). Labasa is reporting occasional showers and isolated heavy falls with conditions easing later (min 23°C, max 34°C).
Moderate easterly winds are expected across the main islands with moderate seas. Rotuma remains under the influence of a trough, with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms, moderate to fresh easterly winds and moderate to rough seas; mariners in that area should note the increase in sea conditions.
The outlook for Thursday remains much the same: cloudy periods with some showers over Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra–Rakiraki, parts of Bua, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and the Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu groups. Afternoon thunderstorms with heavy falls are again expected over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, so localised heavy rain and possible flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas remain the main hazards.
