A weak trough of low pressure over the southwest of Viti Levu, combined with a moist easterly wind flow, will keep much of the group unsettled into tomorrow. Expect occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms in several eastern and northern areas, while the rest of the country will be mainly fine apart from the chance of afternoon or evening showers. Moderate easterly winds and moderate seas are expected around most islands.
Areas likely to see the more persistent cloud and showers include Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, eastern Macuata, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, as well as Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu and nearby isles. Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Labasa, Taveuni, and the Lau/Lomaiviti/Kadavu groups can expect occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere—such as the western towns and coastal areas—conditions should be mostly fine with the typical risk of afternoon or evening showers.
Afternoon thunderstorms with heavy falls are expected to develop over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Localised heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas, so residents in vulnerable locations should remain alert to rapidly rising water and take usual precautions. Temperature ranges around the main centres are broadly similar: minimums around 24–25°C and maximums near 31–32°C. Navua/Suva/Nausori are forecast around 24/31°C tomorrow (rising slightly on Sunday), while Nadi, Lautoka and Ba are expected near 24/32°C tomorrow.
Sea and wind conditions remain moderate for most of the group with moderate easterly winds. Rotuma is affected by its own trough: expect cloudy periods with showers and isolated thunderstorms, moderate to fresh easterly winds and moderate to rough seas. Rotuma’s temperatures are forecast in the mid‑20s to low‑30s (about 24–32°C), with much the same pattern into Sunday.
The outlook for Sunday is little changed: cloudy periods with some showers for the eastern and northern districts and island groups named above, fine weather apart from afternoon or evening showers elsewhere, and afternoon thunderstorms with heavy falls again expected over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Moderate easterly winds and moderate seas will continue across most waters.
