Additionally, a special day dedicated to senior citizens was included in the festivities.

A highlight of that year’s carnival was the anticipated Hibiscus Carnival Fashion Show, themed “Tropical Fantasy.” Fashion show organizer Anna Sweetman invited attendees to expect an evening brimming with surprises and prizes. She emphasized the enchanting nature of the theme, encouraging everyone to join in on the fun.

The fashion show, sponsored by Air New Zealand, was scheduled to take place at Scandals, Noble House, Bau St, Suva, starting at 6:30 PM. Tickets were available for $12, which included complimentary appetizers, raffles, and door prizes. The event was also set to feature live dancing with Ken Janson and The Hearts, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Fashion highlights included tropical outfits from designer Tanya Whiteside, Expozay swimwear, and stylish men’s suits from Rags and Riches. With a mix of glamorous fashion and lively entertainment, Sweetman stated that the Hibiscus Carnival was poised to be a memorable celebration of Suva’s vibrant culture.
