Tropical Disturbance TD03F is currently lingering over open waters between the Solomon Islands and northern Vanuatu, as reported by the Fiji Meteorological Service. The disturbance is anticipated to move southeast in the coming days and is set to enter Fiji’s waters on Tuesday.
According to a bulletin issued at 1 PM today, TD03F is expected to pass through the Lau Group by Wednesday, December 17. Alongside the disturbance, an active trough of low pressure is currently influencing weather conditions across Fiji, resulting in overcast skies and sporadic rainfall.
Authorities have issued warnings about the potential for flash flooding, particularly as many regions are already experiencing saturated soils due to previous rainfall. Increased rainfall is predicted as TD03F approaches Fiji from the west, leading to heightened wet conditions throughout the country by Wednesday.
While the potential for TD03F to develop into a tropical cyclone is low over the next five days, its associated rainbands are already causing significant impacts. Members of the public are urged to stay vigilant, avoid flooded areas, and keep up with official weather advisories for updates.
Despite the current challenges posed by the weather disturbance, the community’s preparedness and resilience remain hopeful as they navigate through these conditions.
