This tragic news was shared by Saiasi Fuli, the former head coach of the Fijiana sevens team, who expressed deep sorrow over Mataitoga’s untimely demise on Sunday.

Mataitoga’s contributions to rugby extended beyond his managerial roles; he briefly served as the manager for the Fijiana 7s team from late 2022 to 2023, during which he collaborated closely with Fuli. Fuli fondly remembered Mataitoga as a source of joy and laughter, highlighting his good sense of humor and passion for his work. “He does his work with passion which will surely be missed,” Fuli remarked.
