Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited (ATH) has shared its deep condolences following the passing of Joweli Taoi, a notable director and businessman. In a statement issued to the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) last Friday, ATH praised Mr. Taoi’s exceptional leadership, strategic insight, and welcoming personality. The company emphasized that his significant contributions to the ATH Group would leave a lasting void.
Mr. Taoi was a pivotal member of the ATH Board and played crucial roles in various subsidiaries, including Vodafone Cook Islands, as well as serving as chairman for Vodafone Fiji Limited, Vodafone Samoa, and BlueSky American Samoa. With over 30 years of experience in international shipping, supply chain management, and trade facilitation, he began his career as a management cadet for Burns Philip and went on to become the country manager for DHL.
In 1995, he established Freight Services (Fiji), an ISO 9001:2015 certified logistics company, which highlighted his dedication to innovation and excellence in the logistics sector. Furthermore, Mr. Taoi was a strong advocate for the involvement of indigenous peoples in business, holding a position on the board of the Fiji Indigenous Business Council, where he actively promoted I-Taukei participation in the commercial landscape.
At the time of his passing, he also served as a director on the board of the Fiji National Provident Fund. ATH expressed its heartfelt condolences to Mr. Taoi’s family and emphasized its commitment to honoring his legacy through a steadfast adherence to the values he championed.
