The Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, paid heartfelt tribute to Semi Bukarau, a senior welfare officer in her ministry, who recently passed away after a short illness at the age of 47. Leading her ministry’s delegation, Ms. Kiran escorted Mr. Bukarau on his final journey home, reflecting on the profound impact he had during his 27-year career in the Fiji Civil Service, including 24 years dedicated to welfare.

“It’s a heartbreaking farewell for an officer who served our people well,” Ms. Kiran expressed. “Mr. Bukarau’s contributions to the welfare sector were significant, and the ministry is grateful for his dedication and commitment. His death is a loss felt across the communities he served.”

The delegation accompanying Ms. Kiran included Permanent Secretary Eseta Nadakuitavuki, Commissioner Central Josefa Navuku, and fellow ministry staff, all honoring Mr. Bukarau’s enduring legacy of service.
