Tree Trims Power: Central Viti Levu Customers Affected

Spread the love

A power supply outage is currently affecting customers in the Central Division of Viti Levu this afternoon.

Hasmukh Patel, the CEO of Energy Fiji Limited (EFL), reported that the disruption occurred when a tree was cut down in Waibau and accidentally fell onto the 132,000-volt transmission line. This incident interrupted the flow of power from the Wailoa Hydro Electric Power Station to the Cunningham Road Zone Substation in Suva.

Patel stated that teams are en route to remove the fallen tree from the transmission line so that it can be re-energized.

EFL has advised the public to treat all power lines as live and to maintain a safe distance, as conditions could cause any power line to become electrified unexpectedly.

The company has apologized for the unplanned power disruption and the inconvenience it has caused, asking for the understanding and cooperation of its valued customers.
