The Fijian Cabinet has recently endorsed recommendations stemming from the iTaukei Administration Review Report, focusing on boosting the efficiency and effectiveness of services for the iTaukei community. Conducted between April and July 2024, the review aimed at enhancing both the economic and social welfare of the iTaukei people.

The review engaged a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector leaders, and representatives from civil society. Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, acknowledged the efforts of the consultancy teams led by Dr. Jone Baledrokadroka and Dr. Jone Lako, who facilitated thorough consultations throughout the process. The recommendations will now be presented to the Great Council of Chiefs, the iTaukei Affairs Board, and the Cabinet for further consideration.

This report is a pivotal step toward establishing sustainable development and resilience within the iTaukei community. The iTaukei Administration includes several vital entities such as the Great Council of Chiefs, the iTaukei Affairs Board, Provincial and Tikina Councils, and Village Councils, all aimed at fostering improved governance and economic development for the iTaukei people.
