The Matua Programme at Nabua Secondary School, located just outside Suva, is making a remarkable impact on the lives of its students. This initiative primarily targets young individuals, particularly those who dropped out of school for various personal reasons, giving them a valuable opportunity to complete their secondary education and reclaim their futures.
As the only program of its kind in Fiji, the Matua Programme has served hundreds of adult learners since its launch two decades ago, helping them to not only finish their schooling but also pursue higher education opportunities. Recently, the program celebrated the graduation of over 42 students. Graduate Lusiana Turaga shared her enthusiasm for the program, noting how it inspired her and her peers to strive for their educational aspirations.
Ms. Turaga emphasized the importance of the diverse backgrounds of the students, highlighting the enriching experience of learning alongside others with different life stories.
