Transforming Lives: FIJI Water’s Heartwarming Gift to Lautoka Hospital

The FIJI Water Foundation, alongside FIJI Water, Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL), and Aspen Medical, has united efforts to revitalize the Children’s Ward at Lautoka Hospital this Christmas. This initiative is part of the “Wonderful Neighbour Project,” which enables employees from FIJI Water and NPDL to propose and execute impactful community projects.

According to the FIJI Water Foundation, each participating employee is granted $100 and eight hours of paid working time, fostering community connections through service. Gavin Whiteside, the CEO of Aspen Medical in Fiji, expressed his gratitude for this support, noting that the enhancements made to the Children’s Ward will provide lasting benefits for many families.

This year, the program saw participation from 798 employees who worked on 21 Wonderful Neighbour projects throughout Fiji, contributing more than 4,500 volunteer hours. Semi Lotawa, the director of the FIJI Water Foundation, emphasized their commitment to fostering positive change and sustainability in Fiji.

In addition to refreshing the waiting area and restroom facilities, the team donated a new washing machine and dryer, and installed a playground with a swing set and four trikes for the children. The project also involved extensive renovations, including water blasting, painting, tiling, new door and louvre installations, as well as landscaping activities.

A total of 120 employees dedicated three days to this meaningful endeavor, demonstrating a strong commitment to community service and support during the holiday season.

This collaboration is a shining example of corporate social responsibility, showcasing how businesses can positively impact their communities.

The article highlights the importance of teamwork and community engagement, particularly during the festive season. It serves as a reminder of the power of collective action to improve the lives of those in need.
