Prominent hotel chains, including Wyndham, are in discussions with Damodar Group to manage a new 40-room hotel in Labasa. Div Damodar, the CEO of Damodar Group, confirmed that plans are underway, with an official announcement expected soon.
“We will be declaring the name very shortly,” he stated in an interview. He noted that the interest from major business entities reflects the growing confidence in Vanua Levu’s tourism sector, which he described as an underdeveloped market for tourism.
“This hotel will act as a catalyst for attracting more prominent brands to Fiji,” he added. The facility will not only offer accommodations but will also feature an 80-seater conference room and a swimming pool.
The conference space will be available for workshops and various events. The hotel is projected to create at least 25 jobs and is anticipated to open by the end of the year.
