A new collaboration has been established between the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) and Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH), aimed at significantly improving medical services for Fijians, especially those living in remote regions. This partnership was revealed during a visit by GCC Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula to PSH’s modern 130-bed private hospital located in Nadi, where he commended the advanced technology and skilled specialists available.

Seruvakula highlighted the hospital’s convenient proximity to Nadi International Airport, suggesting that it could attract international dignitaries in need of reliable medical care, which in turn would enhance Fiji’s reputation as a healthcare destination. The initiative not only seeks to boost healthcare access but also to increase health awareness among the iTaukei community. The partnership aims to improve early detection of chronic diseases through telemedicine, enabling patients in remote areas to connect with specialists without extensive travel.

PSH Chief Executive Parvish Kumar expressed eagerness to collaborate with the GCC in providing affordable and high-quality healthcare. The partnership promises to actively involve the iTaukei community in decision-making, ensuring that their needs are prioritized.

This alliance could represent a significant step forward in Fiji’s healthcare system, enhance health education, and potentially stimulate economic growth through increased medical tourism. By focusing on better access to healthcare, the initiative aims to not only improve individual health outcomes but also contribute to broader efforts to position Fiji as a prime destination for health tourism.

Overall, this partnership embodies a positive direction toward making quality medical services more accessible, laying the groundwork for a healthier future for the nation, and supporting governmental goals to strengthen the healthcare sector while improving health outcomes for all Fijians.
