Transforming Fiji’s Education: A Call to Head Teachers

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to develop effective strategies to support children and enhance the educational system in Fiji. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro expressed these sentiments during the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Mr. Radrodro highlighted the importance of creating an environment that stimulates children’s minds, inspiring them with innovative ideas and guiding them to become solution-oriented leaders for the future. He emphasized the need to bridge tradition and innovation, encouraging educators to empower students to think independently.

“Teamwork is essential for fostering social cohesion, but to achieve this, we must first shape our children’s characters, instilling in them a sense of purpose, vision, and direction,” he stated.

The Heads of Schools were encouraged to extend their influence beyond the classroom and to engage with children and their parents in the community. “Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in you to lead your respective schools, and we must create an educational landscape where every student can succeed, every teacher can thrive, and every community can prosper,” Mr. Radrodro concluded.
