Transforming Fiji’s Education: A Call to Action for Head Teachers

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to develop practical strategies to support children and enhance the education system in Fiji. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro made this appeal during the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Mr. Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an environment that inspires children’s minds and encourages innovative thinking, aiming to cultivate future leaders who can provide solutions. He stated, “You have the responsibility to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, and I motivate you to empower your students to become independent thinkers.”

He highlighted that teamwork is vital for fostering social cohesion, but first, it is essential to shape children’s character, giving them a sense of purpose, vision, and direction.

Heads of Schools were encouraged to extend their influence beyond the classroom, suggesting they engage with the community by monitoring and assisting children alongside their parents. “Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in you to lead your schools effectively. We need to foster an educational environment where every student can succeed, every teacher can thrive, and every community can prosper,” Mr. Radrodro concluded.
