Transforming Education: A Call to Action for Fiji’s Head Teachers

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to develop effective strategies to support children and enhance the education system in Fiji. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro expressed these sentiments at the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an environment that inspires children’s minds, encouraging innovative thinking and the development of future solution-oriented leaders. “You are tasked to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, and I encourage you all to think about the need to empower your students to be independent thinkers,” he stated.

He highlighted that teamwork is essential for social unity, but first, it is vital to shape children’s characters with purpose, vision, and direction. Heads of Schools (HOS) were encouraged to expand their roles beyond classroom teaching and school leadership, advocating for their involvement in supporting children and engaging with their families.

“Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in you to be leaders of your respective schools, and we should create an educational landscape where every student can thrive, every teacher can excel, and every community can flourish,” Radrodro concluded.
