Bola Tafou, the long-distance coach for Athletics Fiji, has called on athletes to intensify their training efforts to earn a place on the team for next year’s Pacific Mini Games. Tafou, who has successfully coached prominent athletes such as the renowned Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro, stated that the time for preparation is limited and that athletes must start serious training immediately.
He pointed out that developing an athlete’s capabilities to the required level generally takes over a year, urging competitors to take action now to enhance their performances compared to their results at the 2023 Pacific Games held in the Solomon Islands.
Tafou is currently running an Athletics Camp dedicated to young athletes, which will continue until January. This initiative provides these athletes with valuable opportunities to hone their skills. He reassured aspiring athletes that the coaching staff is fully equipped and ready to support anyone seeking help with their training.
The 2025 Pacific Mini Games are set to take place in Koror, Palau, scheduled from June 29 to July 9.
This initiative highlights the importance of commitment and preparation in sports, emphasizing that with the right mindset and support, athletes can elevate their performances on a significant stage such as the Pacific Mini Games. It encourages young athletes to take advantage of the resources available to them, fostering a positive environment for their development. With the right dedication, athletes can aspire to achieve their goals and represent their nation proudly.
