Superintendent of Police Ruci Nasemira received the Pacific Award at the 2024 Australasian Council of Women and Policing (ACWAP) Awards in Brisbane, Australia. Currently, she serves as the Acting Deputy Divisional Police Commander South, a critical operational division in the country.

The ACWAP Excellence in Policing Awards celebrated its 25th event on Thursday at Brisbane City Hall, recognizing the contributions of both women and men in enhancing policing and law enforcement, particularly for women in local communities.

SP Nasemira’s extensive policing career, spanning over 30 years, serves as an inspiration to many. She was recently selected for a six-week Comprehensive Security Cooperation Course at the distinguished Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Hawaii.

In 2022, during her two-year assignment with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, she served as the Chief of Training and Sensitization under the Community Policing Pillar. This role involved overseeing UNMISS-affiliated training programs across ten states in South Sudan, and she was re-accredited as a UN Selection Assistant and Assessment Team Instructor.

In 2019, she took on the role of Deputy Chair for the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Women’s Advisory Network, aiding efforts to boost women’s involvement in policing throughout the Pacific. Additionally, in 2018, she was appointed as the Fiji Netball Manager and became one of the Fiji Police’s first female Drill Instructors.

Before becoming the acting DDPC South, she served as the Divisional Manager for Community Policing South.
