The Fiji Police Force reported that a man in his twenties has died from burn injuries sustained in a fire while working on a yacht in Nadi on Monday. According to the police, he was performing maintenance on the yacht in Denarau alongside a 24-year-old colleague when an explosion occurred in the engine compartment, resulting in burns for both individuals. They were quickly taken to Nadi Hospital and later transferred to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where the victim succumbed to his injuries the following night. The 24-year-old remains hospitalized in critical condition. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
