A tragic motor vehicle accident on Valley Road in Sigatoka led to the death of a man in his 20s yesterday. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the victim was one of four passengers in a car driven by a 22-year-old when the vehicle lost control and rolled over multiple times near Navula in the afternoon.

The collision resulted in the victim being ejected from the vehicle, sustaining severe injuries that ultimately caused his death. The driver and the other passengers were promptly transported to Sigatoka Hospital, where they are currently receiving care as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.

This year, the national road death toll is 55, a decrease from 74 fatalities recorded during the same period last year.

In light of such incidents, there is a pressing need for increased awareness and enforcement of road safety regulations to prevent future accidents and save lives. It is crucial that drivers and passengers prioritize safety measures, such as wearing seatbelts and adhering to traffic laws, to ensure the well-being of everyone on the road.

As the community mourns this loss, it serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and caution while driving. With collective efforts towards improving road safety, we can hope to see a further decline in road-related tragedies in the future.
