The national road death toll has tragically reached 60 following a fatal incident in Navosa involving a man in his 40s. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the accident occurred yesterday morning after 10 am.

The victim was driving a truck loaded with gravel when he reportedly lost control while descending a hill, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

It is notable that this year’s toll of 60 is still lower than the same period last year when it stood at 74, indicating a slight improvement in road safety.

In light of this tragic event, it is essential for all drivers to remain vigilant and exercise caution, particularly when navigating steep terrains. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of road safety measures to help prevent further tragedies.

As a community, we can honor the memory of those lost by advocating for safer driving practices and supporting initiatives aimed at reducing road deaths. Each responsible choice on the road can contribute to saving lives.
