A truck driver in his 40s tragically lost his life in an accident in Navaga, located in Navosa. The incident took place yesterday morning after 10 a.m., as reported by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic.
The driver was transporting gravel when, while descending a hill, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
As of now, the national road death toll stands at 60, showing a slight decline compared to 74 fatalities during the same period last year. This statistic, while somber, may indicate progress in road safety measures.
It’s essential to reflect on the importance of safe driving practices, especially in challenging conditions, to prevent such tragic accidents in the future. The community can honor the memory of the victim by promoting awareness about road safety and advocating for stricter regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
