A tragic accident has claimed the life of a truck driver in his 40s in Navaga, Navosa. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the incident occurred yesterday morning after 10 a.m. while the driver was transporting gravel down a hill. It is believed that he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road.

SSP Divuana reported that the driver unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. This incident adds to the ongoing concern regarding road safety, although it is noteworthy that the national road death toll currently stands at 60, an improvement compared to 74 fatalities during the same period last year.

While this situation is undoubtedly tragic, it serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilant driving, particularly under challenging conditions. It is hoped that increased awareness and improved safety measures can help prevent similar accidents in the future.
