A tragic accident occurred in Navaga, Navosa, resulting in the death of a truck driver in his 40s. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the incident took place yesterday morning after 10 AM while the victim was transporting gravel. It is reported that he lost control of the vehicle while descending a hill, causing it to veer off the road and leading to the fatal crash. Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

In a broader context, it is noteworthy that the national road death toll currently stands at 60, which is a decrease from 74 for the same time last year. This statistic, while grim, suggests a potential improvement in road safety measures and awareness.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly for heavy vehicle drivers who face unique challenges. Continued efforts in improving road safety protocols and driver training are essential in preventing such tragic occurrences in the future.
