The national road death toll has risen to 60 following a tragic incident in Navosa when a man in his 40s lost control of his truck while transporting gravel. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the accident occurred yesterday morning, shortly after 10 AM.

The victim was reportedly navigating a steep incline when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Last year, the national road death toll stood at 74 around the same period, indicating a slight improvement in road safety this year despite the recent increase.

This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly in challenging driving conditions. It highlights the need for drivers to remain vigilant and exercise caution, especially when transporting heavy loads.

On a hopeful note, the authorities may take this opportunity to reinforce safety measures and conduct awareness campaigns to prevent future accidents, contributing to fewer tragedies on the roads in the long run.
