A serious accident involving a container truck and a mini-bus occurred this afternoon at Lokuya Hill in Tailevu, resulting in eight individuals being hospitalized. The incident took place around 12 PM, with both drivers and six passengers from the mini-bus receiving medical attention at Korovou Hospital.
In light of this alarming event, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic for the Fiji Police Force, has urged Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise greater caution while driving. SSP Divuana highlighted that this marks the second incident involving PSVs within the same week, raising concerns about passenger safety on the roads.
This incident serves as a critical reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for all drivers, especially those operating public transport, to remain vigilant and prioritize the safety of their passengers.
In a hopeful note, this could lead to increased awareness and stricter regulations to prevent future accidents and protect all road users. The community can remain optimistic that these calls for vigilance will result in safer driving practices in the future.
