A tragic incident occurred yesterday when a 5-year-old boy drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, near the Rewa River. His body was located early this morning.

Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern region, reported that the young boy was swimming when the accident took place. He urged all parents to closely supervise their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching and school holidays looming.

SSP Cakacaka expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and the local communities for their support in the search efforts for the boy’s body.
