Although he was promptly taken to Sigatoka Hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The young boy was full of dreams, aspiring to become an aircraft engineer and to represent his country in rugby. His father recalled, “He wanted to become an aircraft engineer and dreamt of playing rugby for the national team. He always said, ‘One day, you’ll see me on TV.’” Roger’s aspirations extended beyond sports; he was an academically gifted student, excelling in his studies and sports alike, showing great promise as he consistently ranked among the top students in his year group.

The community held him in high regard, lovingly referring to him as the “Nadi Golden Boy.” Tragically, this fatal incident occurred during a church picnic trip. His father recounted the fateful moment when he found out about the accident. Initially puzzled by his son’s absence, he was soon plunged into shock upon receiving the devastating news of Roger’s passing.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, expressed his deep sorrow regarding this tragic event, reiterating the importance of road safety.
