A man in his 50s is thought to be the latest road fatality in the country after a crash in Davuilevu this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, who oversees traffic, reported that the man was driving home after finishing his night shift when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle. This caused the car to veer off the road and collide with a post.
Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and Police arrived at the scene, and the victim was transported for medical care but was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
SSP Divuana noted that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
Currently, the national road death toll is at 40, a decrease from 63 for the same period last year.
